John J. Lyzinski

Lyzinski, John J., 91, of East Taylor Twp., passed away on August 25, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center.  He was born on February 13, 1923 in Colver, PA.  Son of Frank and Felicia (Czajkowski) Lyzinski.  Preceded in death by parents; wife Pia; sisters Laura Semetkosky and Cecelia Mahanski; great grandson Patrick Empfield and great granddaughter Alice Empfield.  He is survived by children: David (Lydia), Thomas (Joanne), Ruth, Daniel (Joan) and Jane (Gary) Empfield; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  World War II Army Veteran.  Retired UMWA coal miner (Bethlehem Mines).  He was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration and Holy Name Society.   John enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with the family who loved him dearly.  Friends will be received from 5 – 8 PM on Thursday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, where Vigil  will be held.  Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday at the Church of the Transfiguration.  Father Robert C. Hall, Pastor.  Committal will be at the Assumption Cemetery with military rites by Menoher Post No. 155, VFW Ritual Team.  The family suggests contributions be directed to Church of the Transfiguration, 220 Oak Street, Johnstown, PA  15909 in memory of John.  On line condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
