Lehman, John Grant, âJackâ, 82, of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord at Arbutus Park Manor, Crossroads Unit, on February 12, 2011. He was born on April 6, 1928, in Ebensburg, son of the late Miller J. and Pansy E. (Empfield) Lehman. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine L. (Hunt) Lehman, Johnstown; son, John Charles married to the former Connie Kerr, Parkton, NC; daughter, Susan Jean wife of Kenneth M. Ferguson, Johnstown; grandchildren, Shawn Lehman married to the former Lori Goheen, Beaverton, OR, Greg Lehman married to the former Ellie Perry, Stockholm, Sweden, Kelli (Ferguson) wife of Charlie Boland, Portage, Jason Ferguson married to the former Stephanie Weaver, New Port News, VA, and Jeremy Ferguson married to the former Mallory Streets, Johnstown; great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Cole Lehman, Emma Lehman, Matthew Boland; sisters-in-law, Lois Leidy, Albuquerque, NM, Elma Koon, Johnstown, Sara Jean Snyder, Johnstown and Fay Hunt, Ebensburg and several nieces and nephews. John graduated in 1946 from the former Ebensburg- Cambria High School, and in 1950 from the University of Pittsburgh, Main Campus with a degree in Civil Engineering. He retired in 1983 after 33 years of service as General Supervisor of the former Johnstown US Steel Corp. He served in the US Army Reserves. John taught for a brief time at Youngstown University. He was an active member of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, where he served as a life Deacon, taught Youth and Adult Sunday School Classes for over 30 years; held many positions on the Church Board; Former Treasurer of Walnut Grove Food Pantry; was a former Local church Youth Counselor and Sub-District Youth Counselor along with his wife concurrently; former member of the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries in Johnstown; charter member of the Fund Raising Committee for the Johnstown Flood Museum; member of the former I.O.O.F. Highland Lodge #428, Ebensburg; and the current I.O.O.F. Alma Lodge #523 from where he received his 60 year Medallion Pin, and in years past an active Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America in both Ebensburg and Johnstown. John enjoyed camping, leather tooling, crossword puzzles and was a very humble, devoted, loving and generous husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather always putting others first. His life touched all of us in a special way and he will be missed. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Funeral service will be at 11 A.M. on Friday at the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren with the Revs. Ronald Barto and Keven Dickerman officiating. Private interment will be at Richland Cemetery.
