Kormanik, John, 91, of Johnstown, passed away on April 21, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on August 30, 1921 in Luzernemines, PA. Son of Michael and Mary (Hlinka) Kormanik. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nicholas, Joseph, and George and sister, Frances. He is survived by his loving companion, Olga Blanar, Johnstown; sons, David J., married to the former Gina Kristinich, Allentown, PA and Mark A., Bridgeport, PA; grandsons, Jeffrey P. and Aaron M. Kormanik, both of Allentown, PA; sisters, Ann Marshall, East Conemaugh, Mary Malinick, CA, and Dorothy Cox, VA; brother, Paul (Beverly) Kormanik, GA and several nieces and nephews. John was a graduate of East Conemaugh High School. He was a proud US Air Force Veteran serving during the WWII and retired after 27 years as Chief Master Sergeant. After serving his country he embarked on a second career as a Federal Defense Inspector. John was an avid golfer and long time member of Pleasant Valley Golf Course. Besides playing golf he also enjoyed reading and keeping up with current events. Friends will be received from 3-7 P.M. on Friday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family at Arlington National Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517.
