Jaskula, John, J, 80, Richland Township. Went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2013, at Reston Hospital Center, Reston, VA. He was born on September 15, 1932 in New York City to the late John and Mary (Slezak) Jaskula. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary âJoanâ (McAleer) Jaskula; brother-in-law, Ronald McAleer and his son-in-law, Justus Funke. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Jaskula Funke, Herndon, VA; son, James, married to the former Kathleen Stumpo, Richland; grandchildren, Lukas and Veronika Funke; brother, Ronald, married to the former Carolyn Ivanec, Hobart, Indiana; nephew Thomas Jaskula and niece Jeanette Jaskula Nichols. He also leaves behind a host of dear friends. He was a 1951 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. John was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. John retired after working for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for more than 25 years, Prudential Insurance and Principal Financial Group, where he was employed as an insurance manager and financial planner. He received many sales awards including top sales manager in the eastern U.S. in 1974. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. As a 16 year season ticket holder, he was an avid Steelers fan as well as Pitt football and Penguins hockey. Friends will be received from 3-7 P.M. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday at St. Benedict Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Richland Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. Ritual Team. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of John.
