Joe Walls

Walls, Joe, 98, of East Conemaugh, passed away on March 25, 2014, at Laurelwood Care Center. Born on May 15, 1915 in Louisville, AL. Son of the late Albert and Nora (Gray) Baxter-Walls. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lue (Hamilton) Walls; sisters, Leona, Lucinda, Viola, Bertha, Xtra, and Mary Alice; brothers, Fredrick, Douglas, Bennett and Lonnie. Survived by loving daughter, Annie J. wife of Ollie M. Busbee, Indianapolis, IN; grandson, Eric Michael Busbee, Indianapolis, IN; great grandson, Christopher M. Busbee, Indianapolis, IN; great-great granddaughter, Taylor Drake, IN; God children, Roselyn McDonald and Brian Davis Jr., both of CA and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. Joe was a WW II Army Veteran. He retired after 25 years of service at Bethlehem Steel. Joe was a member of Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, East Conemaugh, where he was Emeritus Deacon. He was also a member of the former Sterling Echoes Quartett. Joe enjoyed watching baseball downtown, but especially loved singing and the Lord. Friends will be received from 10 A.M. until time of service at Noon on Monday at the Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, with the Rev. Julius C. Porcher officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, 351 2nd Street, Conemaugh, PA 15909 in memory of Joe. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh.
