Joann Rightnour

RIGHTNOUR---Joann, 91, formerly of the Belmont section of Richland, passed away on August 11, 2020 in Newport, RI. Born on May 23, 1929 in Johnstown, daughter of Thomas P. and Gertrude M. (Abele) Gunselman. Preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 58 years, Harry M. Rightnour; and her siblings, Margaret M. Marshall and Marilyn Neil. She is survived by her loving children, Rebecca J. (James) Sattel, Portsmouth, RI, Michael P., Indiana, PA, and Donald (Susan), Fairfax Station, VA; grandchildren, Jamie Sattel (Amy), Gretchen Maynard (Thomas), Lauren Bailey (Landon), Stephen and Nathan Rightnour, and Madison Rightnour Webb (Stephen); great grandchildren, Hunter, Dylan, River, and Ireland Bailey; Thomas, Alexis, and Jenna Maynard and Katey and Benjamin Sattel; and several nieces and nephews. Joann was a 1946 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. She spent her working career as a bookkeeper and retired, along with her husband, from the former Richland Exxon Station and Richland Exxon Self-Serve Station, both on Scalp Avenue. Joann was a member of Windber Country Club, and enjoyed gardening, traveling, cross stitch, playing cards and spending time with her family. She was a dedicated member of St. Benedict Church. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to Noon on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry lane, Richland. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2020 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Geistown.
