Joan Elizabeth Torak

Torak – Joan Elizabeth, 93, Lower Yoder Township, went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2024. Born on October 25, 1930 in Johnstown, daughter of Alex and Balbina (Hiruben) Waslewski. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Torak; brothers, Edward Waslewski, and Joseph Lane, and sister, Florence Wozny. 

She is survived by her loving children, Nancy L. (Tom) DiMuzio, Davidsville, Edward R. Torak, Johnstown, and Daniel Torak, Pheonix, AZ; grandchildren, Heather Cotchen, Johnstown, and Sarah Torak, Pittsburgh; great grandchildren, Anthony, Gabriella, Ethan, and Noah, and several nieces and nephews. 

Joan was a 1948 graduate of Ferndale High School, where she was a Majorette. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Joan was employed at Best Form for over 10 years as a Seamstress. She and her late husband, Edward, were owners and operators of former Morrellville Green House for over 40 years. Joan enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and going to casinos. She loved spending time with her entire family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

At Joan’s request, there will be no public viewing. Private committal service will be held at Grandview Cemetery. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Memorial contributions be directed to the Humane Society of Cambria County, 743 Galleria Dr Ext, Johnstown, PA 15904, or to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Joan.
