Potasnik - Jeffry John, 69, of Johnstown, PA, passed away on December 11, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Jeff was born on January 12, 1955 to Albert and Mary (Klink) Potasnik in Johnstown. He graduated from Greater Johnstown Area Vocational Technical School in 1972 and began his career at Bethlehem Steel. After being laid off at Bethlehem Steel, Jeff spent a number of years working at Major Builders, eventually taking his construction expertise to the in-house construction department for Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center until his retirement after 33 years of service in December 2020.
Jeff’s greatest loves were his two cherished nieces, Alyssa and Amanda Potasnik. He enjoyed playing numerous sports as well as cheering for his favorite college and Pittsburgh professional teams. Jeff was an avid outdoorsman and could be seen spending his mornings hunting or fishing locally with his great friends and nieces. As a gifted woodworker, Jeff loved to design and build beautifully intricate wood items including nativity sets, cradles, toy chests, shelves, step stools, and whatever struck his interest. He was man-of-Christ and an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church throughout his lifetime. During his retirement, Jeff loved going to Morgainz Fitness a few days a week for exercise and spending time socializing with his many dear friends and neighbors.
