Saloom Lathers - Janet, 83, died on February 17, 2017 after a long illness. Youngest of five children born on April 5, 1933 in Johnstown., Daughter of Charles and Selma (Hamaty) Saloom. Preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary (Jack) Gober, Josephine (Robert) Colbert; brother, Dr. Raymond (Mary) Saloom, and brother-in-law, George Stanton. She is survived by sister, Dr. Lillian Stanton, nieces Laurie Haddock, Christine Lombardo, and Patricia Zinn; nephews, Robert, David, Dennis, and Bruce Colbert, Tod Stanton, Raymond, Charles, Christopher, and Eric Saloom, and numerous grandnieces and nephews. After graduation from Franklin High School in Franklin Borough, PA., Janet moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked for the U.S. Customs Service until her retirement in 1979. Janet resided in Butler, Pa where she was active in the Presbyterian Church and the ComPeer program which reached out to shut-ins and the elderly. In 2005, she moved to Marietta, Georgia. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating.
