Erlinger, Janet C., 82, of Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord and Gene on August 10, 2012, at Allegheny Lutheran Home at Johnstown. She was born on September 17, 1929, in Sharon, PA. Daughter of Joseph J. and Dorothy R. (Edwards) Brazil. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Eugene C. âChiefâ Erlinger. She is survived by her loving sons, James C., married to the former Donna J. Garman, Washington, PA and Matthew L. Erlinger, Abbottstown, PA; grandsons, James E. Erlinger (Tara L. Greco), West Mifflin, PA and Michael J., married to the former Darla K. Phillips, Bentleyville, PA; sister-in-law, Mary K. Brandle, Richland Township and several nieces and nephews. Janet was a graduate of Johnstown High School, Indiana State Teachers College and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and Pittsburgh. She retired after 31 years of service at Richland School District, where she was employed as an English teacher at Rachel Hill Elementary. Janet was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and its choir, where she was a soloist for many years. Janet continued her passion for singing when she lived at the Allegheny Lutheran Home. Her special memories were those of taking dancing lessons from Gene Kelly. She also enjoyed reading and traveling around the world, but had her best times with her family and friends at their family cottage. Friends will be received from 1-6 P.M. on Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries, 915 Hickory Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 in memory of Janet.
