James R. Straub

STRAUB---James R. 84, Vinco, died August 23, 2020, at home. Born March 14, 1936, in Johnstown, son of George B. and Verna B. (Walk) Straub. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Jack E. Straub; sister, Dolores Wright and daughter-in-law, Betty Jean (Findley) Straub. Survived by wife of 61 years, Darlene A. (Freidhoff) Straub, whom he married Oct. 25, 1958; sons, George R. Straub, Johnstown and Edward J. Straub, Jessup, MD; also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. James was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a 1956 graduate of Conemaugh High School and a United States Marine Corps veteran. He retired from Cambria True Value Hardware after many years of employment there. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed traveling. Lifetime member of Vinco Brethren Church. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel and again from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Friday, with Pastor Zachary Yonko officiating.
