James T. Moon

Moon, James T., 73, of Somerset, passed away on June 18, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 19, 1939 in Harrison, PA. Son of the late Harry W. and Helen (Lohr) Moon. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra (Lenderman) Moon; brothers, Donald and William, and a sister, Joan (Moon) McIlwain. He is survived by his five children, James T. Jr., married to the former Kathy Dunn, Berlin, PA, Janet L., wife of David A. Kacsur and David L. and Benjamin E. Moon all of Somerset, and Jennifer C. Moon and her friend, Michael Pellegrin, Boise, ID. Also survived by five loving grandsons, David “DJ” and Donivan Kacsur, Connor, Ethan, and Finnegan Moon and four loving granddaughters, Alicia, Kara, Rachel, and Delilah Moon and several nieces and nephews. James was a retired union carpenter, having worked in heavy construction. The family would like to say thank you to all of our dad’s great friends that brought him such joy during his life. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home with his late wife, Sandra and wood working. James will be remembered as a kind and loving father, grandfather and friend. At Jim’s request there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at 7 P.M. on Saturday at the Somerset Church of Christ with his son, James T. Moon Jr. officiating. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Private inurnment will be at Bakersville Cemetery.
