James R. "Jim" Cornman

CORNMAN—James R. Sr., 87, Ebensburg, passed away Aug. 19, 2023 at home. Born December 5, 1935, in Manhattan, NY, son of Howard C. and Frances (Turk) Cornman. Preceded in death by parents; brothers and sisters, Thomas J. Cornman, Lawrence D. Cornman and Joan (Cornman) Crum. Survived by wife of 63 years, Clara G. (Hershberger) Cornman and children, Barbara (Frank) DiLoreto, Windber; James Jr. (Stacie), Illinois; Debbie (Robert) Johnson, Nanty Glo; Patricia (Don) Marra, Revloc; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Brother of Frances Louise (Charlie Imler) Bedford; Bonnie Vuckovich (David), Bedford; Donna Shaw (Jim), Johnstown and Robert Cornman, Ebensburg. Jim was a graduate of Clarion State Teachers College. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a teacher for over 30 years finishing career at Central Cambria Middle School, where he taught Math and Science. Jim was a scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America for 60 years to include Troop 98, Ebensburg. He enjoyed puzzles, stamp and coin collecting, camping, hiking and bird watching. He was an usher at Ebensburg Methodist Church where he was a lifetime member.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 1 p.m., Thursday August, 24, 2023 Ebensburg Methodist Church, with Rev. Ashley Weyant officiating. Committal, Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg, with military graveside rites by Windber VFW, Post #4795 ritual team. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Ebensburg Boy Scout Troop 98 in care of Jim’s family or to Conemaugh Regional Hospice, 210 Industrial Park Road, Suite 150, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of James R.
