Bair – James E., 80, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2016 at his residence. Born on April 16, 1935 in Johnstown, son of Elmer and Mary (Parish) Bair. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Charles Bair; grandson, Daniel J. Popovnak and brothers, Eugene “Pete” and Buddy. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy J. (Shaffer) Bair, Richland Township; daughters, Cindy A., wife of Harry Baldwin, Windber, Lisa M., wife of James Popovnak, Richland Township, and Sherry J., wife of David Whitcomb, Richland Township; grandchildren, Steve Baldwin, Central City, Kelly, wife of Frank Massie, Staunton, VA, Alexandria, Nicholas, and Matthew Popovnak all of Richland Township, and Zachary Whitcomb, Richland Township; great grandchildren, Courtney, Kayla, Alexis, Grayson and Jade Baldwin and Veronica and Devan Ferguson; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Kay Rummell, Richland Township; brother, Robert (Dolly) Bair, Johnstown and several nieces and nephews. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Johnstown High School. He served in the Army National Guard. Jim retired from Bethlehem Steel Axle Plant after 37 years of service as a Crush Roll Grinder. He was a member of the Roll Turners Club and the Daisytown Sportsmen’s Club. Jim enjoyed camping and boating at Raystown Lake. He was an avid race car and Steeler fan. Jim and Nancy spent winters in Florida, where Jim belonged to the Braden Castle Bicycle Club, and the Ye Ole Liars Bench. While in Florida, he also enjoyed fishing, boating, playing cards and riding around in his golf cart. Jim’s family would like to thank Dr. Kastelic and Christine Farkas and the caring staff at Interim Health Care Home Hospice, especially Stacy and Sandy. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Francis Storer officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to Interim Health Care Home Hospice, 322 Warren St Suite 220, Johnstown, PA 15905 in memory of Jim.
