PFAFF – Jack G., 97, Arbutus Park Retirement Community in Richland Township, died January 10, 2025, his mother’s birthday, at his home. He was born on November 4, 1927 in Johnstown, the son of Kenneth Francis and Helen Madeline Justinus Pfaff. In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Helen Joyce (Cuppett); brothers, Ronald Gene and Richard Lee; and son-in-law, James Richard North. Jack was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by his children, Melissa Keaton and husband Dan, Everett, PA; Susan North and Don Beck, Loudonville, OH; John Pfaff and wife Brenda, Marco Island, FL; and Steven Pfaff and Christine Gonzalez-Falla, Woodbine, GA; grandchildren Michael Keaton and husband Loren Duggan and Jennifer Keaton, all of Washington, DC; Karen North Landfried and husband Nathan, Ashland, OH; Andrew North and wife Jessica, Loudonville, OH; Matthew Pfaff and wife Sabrina, Woonsocket, MA; and Alexander Pfaff, Westerly, RI; great-grandchildren Bryan, Christian, Madison, and Jay Farlow; Zachary, Aiden, Rebekah, and Joanna North; and Allison Keaton-Duggan; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Jack was a lifelong Lutheran and former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hornerstown and Christ Lutheran Church in Murrysville, PA. He was a 1945 graduate of Dale High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving one tour at the close and in the aftermath of World War II at USNTC Bainbridge near Port Deposit, Maryland and a second tour during the Korean War at Naval Station Newport in Rhode Island. Jack was retired from numerous sales and management positions in the Sun Oil Company in Johnstown and Pittsburgh, PA; Cleveland, OH; St. Louis, MO; and Washington, DC. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Johnstown, where Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, with Vicar Claudia Plows officiating. Interment, Cuppett Cemetery in New Paris. Jack’s family thanks Chad Kamler and the staff of Arbutus Park for their help with Jack’s various life needs, especially Maggie in the hair salon. The family particularly thanks former Arbutus administrator Rick Wilson for his friendship with Jack and his invaluable assistance to and guidance for Jack’s family.
