Irvin R. Gindlesperger

June 1, 1909 — March 3, 2011

Gindlesperger, Irvin R., 101, of Richland Township.   He went to be with his Lord and Savior, March 3, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 1, 1909, in Johnstown.  Son of the late John and Gertrude (Smith) Gindlesperger.  He is  preceded in death by wife, Anita Faustine (Conner) and these brothers and Sisters: Lillian, Alvin, Helen, Louis, Mary (Michaels), Earl, James, William, Lloyd, and Paul.  Survived by son Roy, married to the former Agnes Davidson, Richland Twp, daughter Eileen, wife of Jack Hayes, Bethel Park, Pa.  Grandchildren; Wendy, Doug, Krissy, and C.J.  Great-grandchildren; Justin, Mandy, Victoria, Hayley, Julia, Shaela, Jack, and Alexa. Step-grandchildren; George, Michelle, Mark, Glenn, and Kristine.  Step-grandchildren; Joshua, Jessica, Jennifer, Andrew, Jonas, Tristin, Dylan, Zora, and Ava. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.  Retired form Gautier Dept,, Johnstown Plant, Bethlehem Steel Corp.  Member of Park Ave. United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Food Pantry Ministry volunteering two days a week, Men’s Bible Class; Life Member of Richland Vol. Fire Co.   Irvin attended the Bethany U. M. Church Men’s Prayer Breakfast.  He also belonged to the Wayside Garden Club, Cambria County Fire Chiefs Assoc. and Menoher Sportsmen’s Club.  Irvin wintered in Florida for many years with family and friends.  He organized a yearly summer reunion dinner for the Florida group calling it the Florida Days.  His hobbies included gardening, fishing, hunting and helping neighbors and friends.   In his last days he enjoyed watching birds from his kitchen window.  He was deeply loved and will be missed by all. Friends received noon to 4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and one hour prior to service at 11 am Monday at Park Ave. U.M. Church. Rev. Kathleen A. Schoeneck, officiating. Entombment at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum. Family suggests contributions to Park Ave. U.M. Church, 700 Park Ave., Johnstown, Pa. 15902 or Richland Fire Co., 1321 Scalp Ave., Johnstown, Pa. 15904, in memory of Irvin. (Online condolences may be posted at www.wharrisfuneralhome.com)
