Irma B. Yarnick

Yarnick, Irma B. 93, of Richland Township. Went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2012, at Windber Hospice. She was born on November 21, 1918, in Johnstown. Daughter of Fred W. and Sophia C. (Schaller) Metzler. Preceded in death by parents; infant brother, William and brother, Frederick K. Metzler. She is survived by her loving children; Bruce W., married to Barbara Venters, Charlotte, NC and Susan C., wife of Dr. Donald Shrey, Cincinnati, OH; grandsons; Adam Shrey, Hudson, NH and Dr. Daniel Shrey, married to Dr. Beth Lopour, Los Angeles, CA; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Metzler, Richland Township, and Evelyn (Robert) Guskey, Wyomissing, PA; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and many wonderful friends. Irma was a 1936 graduate of Richland High School and 1938 graduate of Cambria-Rowe Business College. She retired from Richland School District after 37 years of service as a secretary. Irma was much loved by generations of students and teachers. She was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, and active in the Ruth Circle. Irma enjoyed her flower gardens and working in her yard. She was a talented artist, crafter and seamstress. Irma was well known by all who passed by her home for her cleverly dressed ducks in her front yard. Irma was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed. Her family would like thank the staff of the Home Nursing Agency, Windber Home Health and Windber Hospice as well as wonderful friends and neighbors who have helped Irma over the years. Friends will be received from 4-7 P.M. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael Van Dyke officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
