Irene Zalubski

Zalubski, Irene, 78, of East Conemaugh, went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2012 at her residence. She was born on March 6, 1934 in Johnstown. Daughter of George and Julia (Butala) Yewcic. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by sisters, Mary Kalinyak, Ann Naworal, and Helen Lynch; brothers, John, George, Nicholas, Michael and Steven and a son-in-law, Dennis W. Eppley. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, John S. Zalubski, East Conemaugh; children, Carolyn L. Eppley, Geistown Borough, John B., married to the former Pat L. Churilla, Oak Hill, VA and Lori A., wife of Albert J. Kiepert Jr., Ebensburg; grandchildren, John P. “J.P.” Zalubski, Alex N. and Lauren E. Kiepert; brothers, Paul Yewcic, Williamsburg, VA, and Tom Yewcic, married to the former Jane Cvrkel, Arlington, MA and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was a 1952 graduate of Conemaugh High School. She was employed at the former PA Manufacturers Association; McCrory’s Department Store and The Lee Shoppe. Irene was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration. She enjoyed baking, watching the Steelers, cooking shows and working in her yard. Irene also enjoyed making homemade pierogies and macaroni and cheese for her grandchildren, their favorite dishes. She will be remembered for her ability to find the good in anyone and always put others first. Irene will be missed by her entire family. Her grandchildren were the loves of her life. Friends will be received from 3-8 P.M. on Wednesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday at the Church of the Transfiguration, Father Robert C. Hall. Committal will be at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum.
