Inez V. Murphy

Murphy – Inez V., 97, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on June 20, 2016 at the Church of the Brethren Home. Born on November 22, 1918 in Rummel, PA, daughter of Scott C. and Hattie (Knipple) Corle. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert W. Murphy; brothers, Bernard, Sheldon, Russell, Scott, Jr.; sisters, Dorothy (Betts) Lois (Gertz); dauther-in-law, Theresa (Crisi) Murphy; son-in-law, Robert Bennett. She is survived by her loving children, Patricia A. Abrams,  wife of Joseph Abrams, Pahrump, NV; Dorothy J. Bennett, Solvang, CA; and Robert C., married to the former Robin M. Danel, Sharpsburg, MD; Brother-in-law, William Gertz, Johnstown, PA; grandchildren, Russell and Debra Abrams; Jason Bennett, Carpinteria, CA; Melody (Bennett) Martin, wife of Bill Martin, Magnolia, TX;  Erick Bennett, husband of Bella Barbieri-Bennett, Portland, OR; Jennifer (Murphy) Gunby, wife of Carlos Gunby, Johnstown, PA; Susan (Murphy) Sliwa, wife of Thomas Sliwa, Apex, NC; Michael Murphy, husband of Melissa (Fisher) Murphy, Ebensburg, PA; Nathaniel Hubai, partner of Sam Tripoli, Baltimore, MD; twelve great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren. Inez enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy and the Pirates. She was an avid reader and a loyal band groupie. She was also a volunteer delivering Meals on Wheels. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Ronald E. Barto officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren at 1068 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA in memory of Inez.
