Ida Mary Ross

Ross, Ida Mary., 82, of Geistown. Died Sept. 1, 2015, at Conemaugh Medical Center. Born Oct. 25, 1932 in Ramey, Clearfield County. Daughter of the late Victor E. and Lauretta “Tee” (Jones) Erickson. Also preceded in death by husband, John W. Ross, Sr. in 2013; brothers, C. Fred, William R.; and sister Dorothy “Dot”Hoffer. Survived by these children; Vicky (Paul) Carter, Atlanta, GA; John W. (Grace Utzman), Sullivan, IN; Richard L. (Judith Hettle), Johnstown; James L. (Rebecca Giles), Summerhill; and William J., New York City. Grandchildren, Patrick, Rachel, Emily, Jennifer, Kristen, Matthew, Katie, Kevin and Megan; and 2 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Erickson, Mercersburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.   Former co-owner of Ross Turkey Farm. Member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.  She was a devoted wife and mother whose home was the gathering place for family events. Ida also enjoyed her friends, pinochle club and watching Jeopardy, the Pirates and the Penguins. She spent many years at V. E. Erickson Field cheering for her sons’ Little League Teams. Ida taught many of us how to load a dishwasher correctly and how to get stains out of clothes. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and from 10 to time of service at 11 AM Saturday at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Rev. Toby Holland, officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery. Family suggests donations to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1000 Scalp Ave. Johnstown, PA 15904, in memory of Ida Mary Ross.
