WEAVER---Homer G. “Chick,” 100, of Richland, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2022 at Arbutus Park Manor, surrounded by family. Born July 2, 1921, in Johnstown, son of the late James and Lydia (Weiss) Weaver. Preceded in death by siblings, Ralph, Paul, Gladys and Mary. Devoted husband of 73 years to the late Nancy (Orlando). Loving father of Judy Ream (husband Mike) and James (wife Janet). Homer joined the US Army in 1943 and served as an Air Force Officer until the war’s end in 1945. After returning to Johnstown, he held various jobs before settling into a position at Sunbeam Bread Bakery in Richland, retiring in 1983 after 31 years. Homer was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Geistown. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, bowling, walking and spending time with his 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered most for his caring nature and desire to help others. Homer volunteered at Arbutus Park Manor, pushing wheelchairs for residents who wanted to visit the beauty shop. Friends received from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Fr. David S. Peles officiating. Committal, Richland Cemetery Mausoleum with military Rites. The family wishes to thank the staff of Arbutus Park Manor who profoundly touched Homer’s life and provided exceptional care to him and wife, Nancy in their final years.
