Pfuhl, Herbert, Jr., 83, Johnstown,. Died August 18, 2011, Memorial Medical Center. Born April 25, 1928, in Johnstown. Son of the late Herbert L. and Anna F. (Schweitzer) Pfuhl. Also preceded in death by brother Paul Pfuhl. Survived by wife of 64 years, Phyllis I. (Meyer) and these children: Barbara, wife of James J. Regula, Johnstown,; Debra, wife of J. Mark Schoming, Greensburg; Herbert, III, married the the former Glenda (Warfel), Mechanicsburg; Paula, wife of Michael Urban, Johnstown; and Dawna and companion, William Merritt, Essex, VT. Grandchildren: Jacquelyn Ryan, Lori, Jessica, Megan, Herb, Errick, Kaitlin, Allison, and Ashley. Great Grandchildren: Alexis, Michael, Olivia, Taylor, and Emerson. Brother of Eleanor Shumaker, Ormond Beach, FL. Also, sister-in-law, Mary Pfuhl and 5 nieces. 1946 Graduate of Johnstown High School and Graduate of University of Pittsburgh. WWII Navy Veteran and 1st Lt., 103 Tank Battalion, PA National Guard. Former Mayor of Johnstown for 20 years. Former teacher and coach in the Ferndale-Dale School District. Former President of Pennsylvania League of Cities. Member and Elder at Bethany Presbyterian Church and BPOE, American Legion Richland Post #849 and Cambria County Republican Committee. An outstanding high school, college and Navy swimmer who also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Herb was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend who will be sadly missed. Friends received from 2-8 pm Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 am to 11 am Tuesday, time of Funeral Service. Pastor Denise A. Todero, CLP, Officiating.
