Delawder, Herbert W., 68, “Hoob”, Richland Township, died on December 15, 2015 at Windber Hospice surrounded by family and friends. Born on August 20, 1947 in Cumberland, MD. Son of Noah A. Delawder and Pauline (Thompson) Melius. Preceded in death by his father; brothers; Noah Jr. and Gary Delawder; in laws, Joseph and Florence Eckenrod; brothers in law, Lee and Michael Eckenrod; sister in law, Cheryl Eckenrod. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Catherine J. (Eckenrod); daughters, Gina and Dana; loving granddaughter, Jensen, who he was raising as his own; his “mini me “grandson, Dylan; and granddaughter, Drewann; sisters, Sharron, Frances and Marilyn. Also survived by loving nieces, Alexis and Lindsey Dona. Will be missed by brother in law, Tom Eckenrod; sisters in law, Patricia (Dennis) Heptner; Sandra (Tom) Dynice; Trudy (Joe) Dona; and Christina; brothers in law, Robert (Beth) Eckenrod; and Charles (Stacey) Eckenrod; best friends, Clark Heming; Fran Neisner; and Andy Ferko. Numerous nieces and nephews. Army veteran of Vietnam War. Retired welder from Car Shop Division, Johnstown Plant, Bethlehem Steel Corp. Herb was a self taught mechanic and carpenter. He could figure out how to fix anything. Herb will be remembered for his homemade pigs in the blanket and for helping anyone who needed help. Friends will be received from 4-8 PM Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where a Vigil service will be held at 8 PM. Very Rev. James F. Crookston, officiating.
