Ball - Henry E., 101, N. Charleston, SC formerly of Johnstown, PA, died March 15 in Charleston. Born Jan. 5, 1920 in Johnstown, PA, son of Casimir and Catherine (Pokrzywa) Ball. Preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Anne Stackhouse Ball; sisters, Marie Howard, Agnes Conway, Adeline Demo, Frances Hornick; brothers, M. Francis, Thomas J., Joseph C., Edmund T., Walter J. Survived by his loving daughter, Anne Ball-Deese, and her husband, Anthony Deese. Henry was an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and served as a Sgt of Battery A605th AAA Gun Battalion in the ETO. He was awarded 3 Bronze Stars and a Belgiam Fourragere. Henry retired from the Steel Car Division of Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown as a welder with 43 years of service. He held many offices in the following organizations: Franklin Local 2635 USW, Steel Workers Organization of Active Retires (SOAR) Chapter 15-4, Johnstown-Somerset Central Labor Council, Knights of Columbus and The Order of Alhambra Vigo Caravan 151, Richland American Legion Post #849, member for 58 years and Life Member of the Menoher Post #155 VFW. Henry was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church where he ushered for many years at the 7:30 a.m. Mass. Visitation will be held from noon – 1 p.m. on Thursday (May 6, 2021) at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where a Vigil Service will be held. Memorial Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday (May 6, 2021) at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Grandview Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. Ritual Team.
