Helen E. Thomas

Thomas, Helen E., 82, of Windber. Died June 4, 2016, at the Church of the Brethren Home.  Born August 13, 1933, in Windber.  Daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Knarr) Smith.  Also preceded in death by these siblings; Grace DePolo, Walter Smith, Jr., Harold Smith, Wilbur Smith, and Ruth Lily; son-in-law George Beach; and brother- in- law, Charles H. Thomas and sister- in- law, Elizabeth A. Thomas. Survived by husband of 63 years, Lynn R. Thomas; and children, W. Keith (Linda) Thomas and Tamara L. Beach; grandchildren Joshua, Bram, Spenser, and Kennith Thomas; Matthew (Marcey) Beach, Kaitlyn (Steve) Suckenik. Sister of Thelma Jacobs; sister- in- law of Maryellen Thomas and Jack W. Thomas. Also numerous nieces and nephews.  Member of the Scalp Level Church of the Brethren. Helen was a devoted homemaker, and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was looking forward to becoming a great-grandmother of two.  Friends received from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June, 7, 2016 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and from 10:00 AM to time of service at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Scalp Level Church of the Brethren. Pastor Ron St. Clair, officiating. Interment at Richland Cemetery. Family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, N.Y. 10001, in memory of Helen E. Thomas.
