Helen M. Slaventa

SLAVENTA---Helen M., 97, Parkhill, passed away on May 9, 2023 at Laurelwood Care Center. Born October 15, 1925, in Croyle Twp., Cambria County, daughter of Antony and Helen (Blasic) Pinkas. Preceded in death by parents; husband, of over 50 years, Francis Slaventa; infant son, Thomas; daughter, Louise; son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Frances (Smith) Slaventa. Survived by sons, Francis, Dexter, MI; Raymond (Cindy Custer), Johnstown; and Richard, Anaheim, CA; grandchildren, J.R. Slaventa married to Amanda (Jones), Johnstown; Marisa, married to Bobby Huff, Fairmont, WV; Robert Slaventa, Johnstown; and great-grandson, Dylan. Sister of Edward Pinkas (Sandy), New Jersey. Helen graduated in 1944 from East Conemaugh High School. Helen enjoyed watching the news on television. For many years, Helen worked as a bartender and she started in that line of work at the YAP Club. She also worked at the Conemaugh Eagles, Dee’s Lounge and at the Conemaugh PNA. Member of St. John Gualbert Cathedral. At Helen’s request, a private Funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First St., Conemaugh, with Father Robert C. Hall officiating.
