Helen T. Lack

Lack, Helen T., 96, of Dale City, VA, formerly of East Conemaugh, passed away on March 31, 2016 at her daughter’s residence. She was born on April 9, 1919 in East Conemaugh. Daughter of Michael and Mary (Baloga) Turanik. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John; sisters, Anna, Verna, Julia, and Mary, and brothers, George. Charles, John and Michael. She is survived by her loving children, Kathleen M. wife of John Smoter, Johnstown, JoAnn L. Chavez, Dale City, VA, and Mary Ann wife of Carlos A. Hernandez, Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Michele and John Paul Smoter, and John Carlos Hernandez and several nieces and nephews. Helen was a 1938 graduate of Conemaugh High School. She was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, East Conemaugh. Helen enjoyed singing carols with family and friends at holiday time. She also loved cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting and will be remembered as a loving, giving and kind mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Viewing will be held from 3-7 P.M. on Sunday, April 3rd, at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh. An additional viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until time of Parastas at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 4 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Robert F. Oravetz.
