Buriak â Harry, 88, East Taylor Township, went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2014 at Golden Living Center. Born on March 23, 1926 in Johnstown, son of Metro and Mary (Torpila) Buriak. Preceded in death by his wife, Virginia M. âTootsâ (Rolish) Buriak; sisters, Anna Slavich, Pearl Muharsky, Nellie Botteicher, Catherine Fuehr, and Helen Newman and sister-in-law, Evelyn (Costlow) Buriak. He is survived by his loving son, Paul A. Buriak and his fiancé, Joann Shevock, both of Johnstown; grandsons, Paul A. Buriak Jr. and Joey P. Schenk IV; brother, John Buriak, Richland Township; several nieces, nephews and his beloved cats, Vlad and Honey. Harry was a 1947 graduate of Conemaugh High School. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. Harry retired from Bethlehem Steel, where he was employed as a Furnace Recorder. After he retired he spent several years running Headrick Union Cemetery. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church. Harry enjoyed working around the house, wood working, tinkering with his cars, and playing poker with his friends. He also enjoyed any sport that involved Conemaugh Valley School District and Pittsburgh. Harry loved his family very much, especially his grandsons, who will miss him dearly. At Harryâs request there will be no public viewing, however family and friends are invited to the Burial Service at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday at Headrick Union Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. Memorial Service will be sung immediately afterwards at St. John the Baptist Orthodox church, The Very Rev. Fr. George Johnson. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh. Contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Harry.
