Beam, Lt. Col. Harry Berkley, 76, of Upper Yoder Twp., went to be with his Lord Jesus in the early hours on Wednesday, November 8, at his home. Born December 16, 1940. Deceased family members include his parents, Melvin and Ruth (McCallum) Beam; brother, Frank Beam; and special friend of the family, Bill Ott. Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Judy (Orris) Beam; son Michael Beam, formerly married to Dawn (Henry); grandchildren Patrick, Margaret, Paul, and Levi; son Chris Beam, married to Sonia (McCain), with grandchildren Isabella and Jaden; and son Bruce Beam, married to Lisa (Wilson), with grandchildren A. J., married to Lauren Pernestti, with great-grandson Dexter Alan born November 7, 2017, Amanda, and Arianna. Brother of Melvin Jr. Beam; and sister Denise Burket. Also, many nephews, nieces, and other family members. Harry served in the U.S. Army for 27 years, working his up the ranks from private to Lt. Colonel. He served in Vietnam War, receiving various medals, including the prestigious Silver Star. Over the years, Harry was involved in numerous activities in the community and his church such as having a part in the redesigning of the Flight 93 Memorial and organizing “The Million Man” march from Johnstown to Washington D.C. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. For years he was an avid hunter and fisherman, particularly with his brother-in-law, Bob Orris. Member of West Hills Community Church. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, November 17, at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Celebration of Life service at West Hills Community Church at 11:00 PM on Saturday, November 18. Military Rites will be overseen by his friend Craig Minnick following service at Berkley/Beam Cemetery at Berkley Hills.
