Harriet A. Schmid

Schmid – Harriet A., 87, Davidsville, formerly of Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2016 at Laurel View Village, Davidsville, PA. Born on March 5, 1929 in Lock Haven, daughter of Glenn L. Sr. and Adeline M. (Yost) Hastings. Preceded in death by parents; husband, John C. Jr., “Jack” Schmid; brother, Glenn L. Hastings Jr.; sisters-in-law, Doris Briggs, Ardelle Ulerich, and Theresa P. “Ginny” Hastings and brothers-in-law, Paul Ulerich and Richard Briggs. She is survived by her loving children, John C. III, married to the former Julie A. Paul, Jackson, MI, Cathy A. Mull, Windber, and Amy L. Noon, Johnstown; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred “Jacque” Altemus, Escondido, CA, and Mary Lou Anderson, Hastings, PA and many nieces and nephews. Harriet was a 1947 graduate of Johnstown High School and very active in keeping high school class reunions going. She attended Lock Haven State Teachers College. Harriet was a former member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, and presently a member of Kauffman Mennonite Church. She was a meticulous home maker who loved bowling and being with “the girls”. Harriet was also an avid fan of the Steelers and the former Johnstown Jets. Her family wishes to thank Laurel View Village and Interim Health Care Hospice care givers for their wonderful care. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Laurel View Village Chapel with the Rev. Wes Yoder, and Rev. Jeffrey Bassette officiating. Private interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Laurel View Village, Caring Fund, 1000 Vista Drive, Davidsville, PA 15928 in memory of Harriet.
