Harold B. W. Bracken

Bracken, Harold B.W. “Hap”, 99, of Geistown, went to be with the Lord on June 20, 2014 at Arbutus Park Manor. He was born on December 18, 1914 in Johnstown. Son of the late Horace S. and Marie (Ickes) Bracken. Also preceded in death by wife, the former Dorothy V. (Bowser); sister, Lorene Bracken and brothers, Elmer and Victor Bracken; and sister-in-law, June Bracken. He is survived by his loving children, Barry R., married to the former Deanna M. Moore, Port Saint Lucie, FL and Rebecca A. Bracken, Geistown ; grandchildren, Robert, formerly married to the former Kathleen (Riso), of Palm City, FL; Daniel Bracken, married to the former Janet (Anderson), of Doylestown, PA; and Scott Shaulis, married to the former Jessica (Zeigelbauer), of Stafford, VA; great grandchildren, Dantina, Lauren, Michael, Ryan, Courtney and Alec Bracken; sister-in-law, Marian Bracken, Olathe, KS and several nieces and nephews. Harold was a graduate of Richland Township High School. Early in Harold’s life, he was employed as a time keeper on the W.P.A. He was later employed by US/Lorain Steel as a lathe operator and retired from Schmidt Baking Company after 25 years of employment as a driver and salesman. Harold was an active member of Grove Avenue United Methodist Church and served many years in the church choir. He enjoyed writing poetry, driving his 1961 Corvette, dancing, traveling and his endless friends. Harold was a beloved husband, father, and true friend. Friends will be received from 4-7 P.M. on Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 AM to 11 AM, time of Funeral service Wednesday at Grove Avenue United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Edward Schoneck, officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery.
