Glenn L. Knavel

Knavel, Glenn L., 85, Elton, passed away on September 28, 2011, at home. He was born on February 2, 1926 in Johnstown. Son of the late Lawn and Verna (Sauters) Knavel. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Margy L. (Swartley) Knavel; siblings, Opal Garhart, Virginia McAndrew, and Hershel. Survived by these loving children, Loxy, wife of Hugh Ward, Tucson, AZ, Karen Misosky, Richland, Bonnie, wife of Jack Teno, Johnstown, Greg, married to the former Vickie Fresch, Pine Grove, PA and Glenn, State College, PA; grandchildren, Terri, Dustin, Jarib, Chad, Travis, Tisha; great grandchildren, Joshua, Lindsey, Megan, Tia and Charlie; brother, Robert married to the former Betty Krise, Elton; sister-in-law, Lale Knavel, Richland Township and several nieces and nephews. Glenn was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He was a member for 62 years of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Union #66.Glenn was a member of Dunmyer Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his family and will be sadly missed. At Glenn’s request there will be no public viewing. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Dunmyer Cemetery, Elton, PA with Rev. Nila Cogan officiating and military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. Ritual Team. Glenn’s family suggests contributions be directed to the Humane Society of Cambria County, 743 Galleria Dr Ext., Johnstown, PA 15904-7120 in memory of Glenn.
