Gillette M. Plesnick

Plesnick, Gillette M., 90, of Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2015. Born on September 21, 1924 in Liege, Belgium. Daughter of Henri L. and Guillemine M. (VanMoer) Defrance. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rudolph, “Rudy” Plesnick; sister, Lucienne Derydt. She is survived by her children, Lucine C., wife of Frank Lesosky, Richland Township, Lynn H., married to the former Kathy J. Eckley, Everett, PA, Lyle R., married to the former Joanne M. Badaczewski, Media, PA; grandchildren, Dr. Christine M., wife of Philip E. Rohanna, Ebensburg, Nicole A., wife of Michael W. Stevens, Mt. Joy, PA, Eric P. Lesosky, Richland Township, and Shawn L. Plesnick, Media, PA; great grandson, Mason Tyler Stevens. Gillette was an interpreter during WWII and supported Graves Registration. She and her late husband, Rudy met while he was serving in the US Army in Belgium. They married in Belgium April 11, 1946. They retired after 40 years as owners and operators of the former Stonycreek Hotel and Bar, Johnstown. Gillette was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She was an avid reader and was a promoter of reading for youth through the Great Books Program. Gillette enjoyed family, boating, board games, biking, being in the outdoors and was an avid sports fan, especially the Pirates and the Penguins. She will be remembered for her crocheting, knitting and crafting. and family always came first. Gillette loved her entire family dearly, especially the grandchildren. Gillette’s family would like to thank Marlene, the G6 staff of the Memorial Medical Center and In Touch Hospice House, Somerset, PA. A private viewing will be held at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, followed by at 10 a.m. Mass on Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Entombment will be at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum.
