Hanley, George F., 87, of Richland Township, formerly of Sidman, went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2013 peacefully at home. He was born on April 10, 1926 in Johnstown. Son of Walter Roy and Hilda (Munzer) Hanley. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife, Margaret E., âMargâ (Kessler) Hanley; and brothers, Charles, who was killed while serving in the Marines during WWII and Donald. He is survived by his loving sisters, Dorothy Mock, Johnstown and Mary Lou McAllister, AZ; sister-in-law, Janet Hanley, Johnstown and 56 nieces and nephews. George was a graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a US Marine serving during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. George was employed at American General Life and Accident Insurance for 32 years as an agent and manager until his 62 birthday when he went on disability due to heart problems. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and also a life member of Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. George was an avid hunter and trout fisherman until his 80th birthday when he had to give it up due to physical ailments. He also enjoyed gardening, playing pinochle, and BINGO. Friends will be received from 3-7 P.M. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum with Military Rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. Ritual Team.
