Durica, George J. Sr., 94, formerly of Johnstown, took his final trip from Arlington, VA, to be with our Lord on December 17, 2012. Our Dad was born, raised, and lived the majority of his life in Johnstown. Dad will join our Mom, Mary Rygel, his parents, Paul Sr., and Elizabeth, and all his brothers, Andrew, Paul Jr., John, Joseph, and Stephen and sisters, Agnes, Anna, Mary, Helen and Kay. Dad was a member of the Greatest Generation, serving in the US Army during WWII in the US, Canada, England, and Europe. He was employed and retired from Bethlehem Steel Company. Dad attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Woodvale. He leaves behind Betty and husband Jim and grandchildren Jason and Amy; George, Jr. and grandchildren, Lynn and George III. Jo An and husband Fred and grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Durica, Anastasia Rzeszut, Mary Rygel, Masie Rygel, Marie Rigel; brother-in-law, Lawrence Proctor and countless nieces and nephews around the world, friends and neighbors. At Dadâs request there will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend a committal service at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday at Mt. Hope Cemetery with Father Robert C. Hall officiating and military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh.
