GRANDINETTI â Genevieve M. âMimiâ, 88, Richland, passed away in her sleep Feb. 24 at The Church of the Brethren Home, Windber. Born January 1, 1925 in Johnstown to Stephen and Pauline (Kmecik) Filicky. In addition to her parents, Genny was preceded in death by her husband, James R. and sister, Evelyn Kasay. She is survived by children, Francis and wife, Carolyn, of North Carolina; and Jamie, wife of John Poltrack, Johnstown; Beloved grandchildren, Kristin, married to Brian Blake, Jonathan, married to Virginia James, and Jennifer, engaged to Matthew Gjurich, and 1 precious great granddaughter, Evalyn Blake; Sister of, Bernadette, married to Robert Monkowski. Also survived by brother-in-law, Steve Kasay and sister-in-law, Theresa Grandinetti and numerous nieces and nephews. Genevieve worked for Penn Traffic Credit Office immediately after high school graduation and then continued on to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Labor and Industry. After retirement, she volunteered for the Cambria County Literary Program, Community Arts Center, Rosary Guild at St. Benedict Church in Geistown and St. Vincent de Paul Operation Touch. Genevieve greatly enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter, and was âMimiâ to everyone's life she touched. Genny (or GG as referred to by Church of the Brethren Home staff and volunteers) loved all of the staff who diligently took care of her every day. She will be immensely missed by all family and acquaintances. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. Fr. David S. Peles, pastor. Committal at Grandview Cemetery.
