Bombach, Frank J., “Farmer”, 97, of Vinco, went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2014 at home in the presence of his family. He was born on January 10, 1917 in Vinco. Son of Anton and Elizabeth (Kosmatin) Bombach. Preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 years, Eleanor Ruth Bombach; brothers, Anthony and Karl; sisters, Amelia Gay, Agnes Stiles, Elizabeth Elliott, Anna Vorhauer, and Mary Bombach; great grandson, Evan Lloyd and son-in-law, William Reffner. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his loving son, Robert J., married to the former Sharon Smith, Vinco; daughters, LaVerne R. Reffner, Vinco, Carolyn L., wife of Delford Leidy, Ashland, OH and Mary E., wife of Dennis Devlin, Vinco; grandchildren, Tammy Garland, Patricia Lloyd, Lori Bombach, Beth Belsterling, Ted and Mark Reffner, Jeffrey Leidy, Jeri Blythe, Scott, Tim and Daniel Devlin and 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was as a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Frank retired in September 12, 1976, after 40 years of service, as a General Foreman of the Mechanical Department at Bethlehem Steel. He was also employed by Jackson Township building some of the first roads breaking rocks for the road base. Frank plowed Victory Gardens during WWII. He was a member of Klaypyke Kampers and life-long member of Little Bear Hunting Camp. Frank was also a life member of Cambria County Firemen’s Association and Charter Life Member of Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, reciting poetry, telling stories and spending time with his family. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. on Monday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh and one hour prior to service at 11 A.M. on Tuesday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kevin McNamara officiating. Interment will be at Ogden Cemetery, Jackson Township. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rte. 271 (Mundys Corner), Johnstown, PA 15909, or to Conemaugh Regional Hospice, 315 Locust Street, Suite 5E, Johnstown, PA 15901, or to Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company, 176 Adams Avenue, Mineral Point, PA 15942 in memory of Frank.
