Francis A. McDowell

McDowell, Francis A., 80, of Richland. Died June 30, 2016, in Dublin, Ireland. Born July 15, 1935, in Windber. Son of the late Katherine R. McDowell-Holsinger. Also preceded in death by wife of 55 years, Raeleen A. (Barrett) McDowell. Survived by children; Dennis (Cheryl); Heather (John) Schultz; and Shawn (Robin); and 3 Grandchildren. Also nieces and nephews. Army veteran of Vietnam Era. Francis was employed by Commercial Credit and retired from Prudential Insurance Co.  Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown; Ancient Order of Hibernians; and Richland American Legion. He was a former coach and manager with Arbutus Boys Baseball League. Francis enjoyed traveling and gardening. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather who will be missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 10 AM Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Fr. David S. Peles, pastor, Fr. Daniel J. O’Neill and Fr. Leonard Voytek, concelebrants. Committal at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum with military Rites by Conemaugh Valley Detachment, Marine Corps League. Family suggests donations to St. Benedict Renovation Fund in memory of Francis.
