Francis R. Hlavay

Hlavay, Francis R, 75, of Jackson Twp., passed away on March 28, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Born on September 24, 1937 in Johnstown, son of Francis and Antoinette (Sterle) Hlavay. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carole Jean Thompson and brother-in-law, Jim Jaworski. He is survived by his partner of 35 years, William J. Sajko, Jackson Township; sister, Marge Jaworski, Augusta, GA; brother-in-law, John Thompson, Johnstown and several nieces and nephews. Francis was a graduate of Richland High School. He retired from US Steel after 30 years of service in the Accounting Department. Francis was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing on his computer and loved going to auctions. Francis will be remembered for his card tricks and his sense of humor. At Francis’s request there will be no public viewing or service. Private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh.
