Evelyn C. Rager

Rager – Evelyn C., 95, of Windber, formerly of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2017 at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born on December 21, 1921 in Johnstown, daughter of Lawrence L. and Margaret M. (Phillips) Lear. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle C. Rager; son, Raymond; grandson, Allan “Spike” Rager; brothers, Donald, Raymond, Bill, and Larry, and son-in-law, Alex Litko. She is survived by her loving children, Connie Litko, Windber, Dan, married to the former Betty Boyd, Upper Yoder Township, Dennis, married to the former Gloria Karmendy, Richland Township, and Lou, Johnstown. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; sisters, Rose Marie, wife of Edward Bonk, and Phyllis Varnish all of Johnstown, and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was retired as Department Manager from the former Mason’s Department Store. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church; 42-year member of Richland American Legion Auxiliary Post #849; and was a volunteer at Richland Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, as well as volunteering for over 17 years at St. Vincent DePaul. Evelyn enjoyed crafts, baking, and volunteering her time. She loved her entire family dearly. Her family would like to thank Asera Care Hospice and Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care. At Evelyn’s request, there will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Entombment will be at Richland Mausoleum. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
