Turanik, Eva âJuneâ, 87, of East Conemaugh , went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born on April 14, 1925 in Conemaugh. Daughter of Wasyl and Emily (Sirkot) Pekera. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; son, Charles Michael âTankâ; siblings, John, Anna Rheel, Mary Wiggins, Peter, Nellie Britton, Stephen, Olga Zadarla, Julia Dolgas, Elizabeth Nagle, Catherine Swansinger, and an infant twin brother, Charles and her son-in-law, William Law. She is survived by her loving daughter, Emily Marie Law, Johnstown; beloved granddaughters, Billie Jo, wife of Jason Whorl, and Krissy, wife of Adam Weir all of Johnstown; treasured great grandchildren, Ruby, Lily, Madelynn, Chloe, Cassidy, Eva and Sullivan, who she loved to the moon and back; sister, Pearl, wife of Delbert Johnson, Mineral Point; daughter-in-law, JoAnne (Bartlett) Turanik, Salisbury, NC; sister-in-law, Helen T. Lack, Dale City, VA and many loving nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Eva was a 1944 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. During her early years, she was employed as a secretary for the Twin Boro Vets where she met her husband, Chis. Eva was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church. She spent many years cooking at the American-Carpatho Citizens Club. No one made better halupki or pierogies than our Bubbie. Nothing meant more to her than spending time with her family. She touched countless lives with her strong faith, kindness, generosity, compassion, and endless love. The world is a better place for having Eva in it. Friends will be received from 3-9 P.M. on Wednesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street Conemaugh where Parastas will be sung at 3:30 P.M. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Thursday at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Fr. Robert K. Yetsko, T.O.R. Committal will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
