Ethel Vyne Warshel

WARSHEL, Ethel Vyne, 94, formerly of Johnstown, died December 12, 2024, at the Lutheran Home at Topton, Topton, PA. She was born September 12, 1930, in Windber, daughter of Thomas and Prudence (Davies) Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, her parents, and her sister, Prudence Harris. She is survived by her children: Kimberly; Edwin, Jr. (Deb Duca); and Prudence (Mike Jarvie); and grandchildren, Ben Miller, Jesse Miller, Liz Kupetz (Stephen), and Drew Jarvie. She was a long time member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, where she served on Church Council and the Worship & Music committee, as well as being very active in numerous musical groups . She attended Ebensburg-Cambria High school, the University of Pittsburgh (Johnstown) and the Mercy Hospital School of Medical Technology, and spent her career working in hospital laboratories throughout the Johnstown area. She loved to play golf and was very involved in various women’s golf associations, was Club Champion at Windber Country Club and Oakbrook Golf course and was very proud of her numerous holes-in-one. She also loved 10 pin and duck pin bowling. In addition, she enjoyed gardening, singing (choir and Johnstown Symphony Chorale) and hated cooking! Friends will be received from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, December 17 at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and on Wednesday, December 18 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m., Vicar Claudia Plows will be officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery.
