Ernest H. "Ernie" Gustkey

Gustkey, Ernest H., “Ernie”, 66, of East Conemaugh Borough, passed away on August 8, 2011, at his residence. Born on April 9, 1945 in Johnstown. Son of Charles A. and Melvina R. (Flook) Gustkey. He is preceded in death by his parents; Infant son, Ernest H. Jr. and a brother, Franklin T. Gustkey. Survived by loving wife of 42 years, Benita M. (Steepe) Gustkey, East Conemaugh Borough; children, Steven S. married to the former Vanessa Plovish, East Conemaugh, George H. married to the former Beth Jones, Windber, Rodger D. married to the former Mandy Price, Johnstown and Louann L. Gustkey, East Conemaugh; 10 grandchildren; 9 brothers; 6 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernie was a 1967 graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War and latter served in the Army National Guard for 17 years. Ernie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and loved spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 10 A.M. until time of service at noon on Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael VanDyke officiating. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh. Interment will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA with military rites conducted by members of the US Army.
