Simanski, Emil F. Jr., 81, Upper Yoder Township departed this world to be with his Lord on August 8, 2012 at Windber Hospice. He was born on August 26, 1930 in Johnstown. Son of the late Emil F. Sr. and Avanell E. (Penrod) Simanski. Also preceded in death by wife, Leora âJeanâ (Bloom) Simanski; siblings, Ralph Simanski, and Esther Karashin; father and mother-in-law, Ervin L. and Hazel L. (Giffin) Bloom; brothers-in-law, Donald Seese, Raymond Karashin, Harry âChuckâ Seese, Ervin âBudâ Bloom, Arthur Nagle and an infant brother-in-law, Oliver; sister-in-law, Alma Seese. Survived by loving children, Melanie Jean wife of Barry G. Cameron, Westmont, Timothy E. Simanski, Upper Yoder Township, and Carla L. wife of Michael W. Rhodes, Lima, OH; grandchildren, Michael and Quinten Cameron both of Westmont and Joshua and Trista Mikolich both of Virginia Beach , VA; brothers, Ray Simanski married to the former Marlene Rice, Salix, and Albert Simanski married to the former Barbara Partsch, Upper Yoder Township; sister-in-law, Evelyn Simanski, South Plainfield, NJ; brother-in-law of June Seese, Windber, Merna Nagle, Richland Township, and Carol wife of Ralph Schneck, Geistown; Kenneth married to the former Eileen Snyder, Berlin, Ernest married to the former Kathryn Richter, Park Hill, Lois Bloom, Richland Township, and numerous nieces and nephews. Emil was a 1951 graduate of Westmont Hilltop High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Emil was employed at Bethlehem Steel (Gautier Division) and then retired after 29 years of service from Rod and Wire Mill. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union, Local #2632 and the Richland American Legion Post #849. Emil was a member of Dunmyer Lutheran Church, where he served on council, the choir and was also the caretaker for many years at Dunmyer Cemetery and church grounds. He enjoyed watching westerns, word find puzzles, scrap booking, and taking family pictures. Emil loved listening and dancing to his favorite polka music. He also enjoyed square dancing, where he met his beloved wife, Jean. Emil greatly loved and enjoyed his children and grandchildren especially spending time with them and going to their sporting events and activities. Emilâs family would like to thank friends, family and care givers for all their love, support and prayers during his time of need. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. on Wednesday at Dunmyer Lutheran Church, Rev. Gerald Myers officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team.
