Doyka, Elmer E., 89, Richland Twp. Died Nov. 19, 2014, at Laurel Wood Care Center. Born Dec. 22, 1924, in Portage. Son of the late Stanley and Veronica (Griek) Doyka. Also preceded in death by son, Timothy in 2009; and brother, Walter Doyka. Survived by wife of 67 years, Florence L. (Markovich); daughter, Eileen, wife of Pete Mider, Richland; and son Gene, married to JoAnne (Varner), Windber. Grandchildren; Michael Mider, Todd Doyka, Jason Doyka, Cory Doyka, Philip Mider, Zachary Doyka, Ricky Doyka and Sam Doyka. Great grandchildren, Josh, Justin, Brady and Jacob. Brother of Margaret Polo, Ohio and Gertrude Odenthal, McKeesport. PA. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Graduate of Portage High School. WW II Army Veteran serving during the Normandy Invasion receiving 4 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. Retired supervisor at US Steel Corp. and Owner of Creslow Construction. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. Life Member of Richland American Legion #849 and Spring Mills Rod & Gun Club, Centre County. Elmer was an avid Penn State fan, loved his trout fishing at Pennâs Creek, where he had a camp. He also enjoyed gardening and Beekeeping. There will be no public visitation; however relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Monday, Nov. 24, at 10 AM at St. Benedict Church. Fr. David S. Peles, pastor.
