Elaine Sterner

STERNER---Elaine M., 87, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2021. Born June 22, 1934, in Johnstown, PA, daughter of Herman and Florence (Wacker) Steeg. Preceded in death by parents, husband of 54 years, Dean R. Sterner, whom she married August 14, 1955, daughter, Doreen (Sterner) Griffith, and brother, Elvin. Survived by children, Deanne, wife of Jack Coyne, Johnstown; Alan, married to Sue DiBartola, Windber; and Randall, Windber; son-in-law, Rev. Mark Griffith, Johnstown; grandchildren, John III, Jesse and Jordan Coyne; Jennifer McMasters, Tori Sterner, Allison (Griffith) wife of Adam Haer, and Emily Sterner; great-grandchildren, Liam, Donovan and Kienan Coyne, Taylor Willson and Zelda Haer. Elaine was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, where she once taught Sunday School. For many years, Elaine welcomed new members to the community as a Welcome Wagon Hostess. For 18 years, she was a smiling face behind the Estee Lauder counter at Penn Traffic and Hess’s Department stores. Elaine will always be remembered for her sweet smile and kind spirit. As we celebrate her life, friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and again from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev.
