Utnik, Edward E., 89, of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2014. Born on August 30, 1924 in Johnstown. Son of Walenty “Valetine” and Anna (Hammara) Utnik. Preceded in death by his wife, Sophie (Golojuch) Utnik; son, James; siblings, Casper Lenart, Valentine, William Lenart, Angeline Gross; father and mother-in-law, John and Catherine Golojuch; brothers-in-law, Alfred Gross, Charles Miller, Frank (Alice) Golojuch, Bernard Golojch, and John Golojuch and sisters-in-law, Jessie Utnik, Nellie (Walter) Hamryszak, Sister Jeannette Golojuch, Theresa Golojuch, and Genevieve Mesnak. He is survived by his loving children, Carol, wife of Richard Mesaros, Savannah, GA, Matthew, Anthony “Bernie, Tony”, Larry, married to the former Cindy Thomas all of Johnstown, Jeffrey, married to the former Barbara Mirable, Chesterton, IN, Tom, Johnstown, Tim, married to the former Patty Lingenfelter, Johnstown; grandchildren. Kimberly (Colin) Sims, Atlanta, GA, Sherry (Carey) Johnson, Savannah, GA, Dennis Mesaros, Coconut Creek, FL, Chris M. Utnik, married to the former Amy Burke, Johnstown, Laura (Rob) Finch, Coupon, PA, Lisa (Robert) Rodkey, Nanty Glo, PA, Lindsey Utnik, Chesterton, IN, Andrew (Ashley) Utnik, Vintondale, PA, Josh Utnik, Chesterton, IN, and Ryan and Bradley Utnik, both of Johnstown; great grandchildren, Nick Sims, Josh and Amanda Johnson, Andy and Alex Sims, Chase Utnik, Abigail Finch, and Brody Utnik; sister, Anne Miller, Johnstown; sister-in-law, Barbara Golojch, Johnstown; brother-in-law, Frank Mesnak, Johnstown and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Edward retired after 35 years of service at Bethlehem Steel, where he was employed as a Scarfer. He was a member of Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Parish, Bon Air. Edward was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening, reading, maps, keeping up with current events and visiting with his family. He loved being in the outdoors, especially hiking with his children. Friends will be received from 2-7 P.M. on Sunday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, East Conemaugh, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday at Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Parish, Bon Air, Fr. Robert Ruston. Committal will be at Oak Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Parish, Bon Air, 120 Boltz Street, Johnstown, PA 15902 in memory of Edward. On line condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
