Killian – Edward, 77, East Taylor Township, passed away on October 17, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on November 20, 1939 in Johnstown, son of the late John and Mildred (Furman) Killian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear sister, Joan Monko; brothers-in-law, Joseph Monko Sr., and James McGinnis. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Shirley (Mullen) Killian and his loving children, James (Lourie), Rockport, MA; Carla (Andrew) Pollock, Karthaus; Kathie (Scott) McBreen, Ebensburg; Amy (George) Yatsky, Mechanicsburg; Marty (Jennifer) Zahuranec, State College; and Kathy (John) Cislo, Johnstown; grandchildren, Andrew Pollock, Jessica Popadines, Courtney Killian, Lance Madden, Michael Killian, Jeremy McBreen, Trace McBreen, Raigan Pollock, Brody Cislo, Kierra McBreen, Christian Cislo, David Killian, Ty McBreen, Emma Killian, Trent Yatsky, and Anthony Cislo; three great grandchildren, Aybe Pollock, Lucy and Ellie Popadines; his best furry friend Zoey. He is also survived by sisters, Virginia (Bert) Fisher, Wesley Chapel; and Sharon McGinnis, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was a 1957 graduate of Franklin High School, and a 1961 graduate of Clarion University. He spent 35 years as a dedicated teacher at Conemaugh Valley School District, a financial aid officer at the Pennsylvania Institute of Taxidermy, and a master builder of custom fishing rods for many years. Ed was an avid outdoorsman and passed the love onto his grandchildren, family, and friends. We will miss your stories and jokes, but they will live in our hearts forever. At Ed’s request, there will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life from 10 a.m. until time of committal service at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Church of the Transfiguration School Hall, with the Rev. Kevin McNamara officiating. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh. Private inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.
