Edward J. Kalinyak

Kalinyak – Edward J., 80, Parkhill, went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2019 at his residence. Born on February 18, 1939 in East Conemaugh, son of Michael and Mary (Yewcic) Kalinyak. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thomas, Michael, and Richard, and sister-in-law, Donna Lee O’Dowd. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Doris G. (McDowell) Kalinyak; daughters, Traci A. (Leo) Feist, Nanty Glo, and Kelly L. McCune and her fiancée William D. Byers Jr., both of Vinco; grandchildren, Samantha Vivis, Shane McCune, and William Byers; siblings, Elaine M., wife of Lytton Croft, Wesley Chapel, and William Kalinyak all of East Taylor Township, Donna J., wife of Anthony Catanese, Canonsburg, PA, Paul S., married to the former Loretta Cuturilo, East Conemaugh, and Kathleen A., wife of John Russin, Wesley Chapel; several nieces, nephews and many friends, including special friends, Steve Mastovich and Jim Dyson. Ed was a graduate of Franklin High School. He was a US Navy Veteran served during the Vietnam War. Ed was owner and operator of Gearharts Furniture Store for 40 years. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, East Conemaugh Borough; past treasurer of Parkhill American Legion, Post #970, and the Union Social Club, Johnstown. Ed enjoyed riding horses and fishing with his brothers. He loved his family dearly and will be remembered for his kind and generous nature. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, where Parastas will be held at 6:30 p.m. Panachida will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel followed by Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Rev. Dr. Robert F. Oravitz. Committal will be at Holy Trinty Byzantine Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, 217 Fourth Street, Conamugh, PA 15909 in memory of Edward.
