Surap – Edith P., 86, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2023 at her residence. Born on February 14, 1937 in Johnstown, daughter of William Raymond and Helen Pearl (Bracken) Gongloff. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry T. Surap Sr.; children, Richard Allen and Helen Marie “Candy” Surap; grandson, Richard Kent Surap; granddaughter, Candice Rose, and daughter-in-law, Irene Cathleen Teeter Surap.
She is survived by her loving children, Henry Tom Jr. and his companion, Rose Ramirez, William J. Surap Sr. all of Johnstown, and Pamela Jean Estay, Fairbanks, AK; grandchildren, William J. Surap Jr., Timothy Surap, Johnstown and Heather Surap, Fairbanks, AK; great grandchildren, Brandon, Daniel, and Jacob Deneen, and Elizabeth and Riley Richardson; great-great granddaughter, Alice Deneen; siblings, Joyce (Donald) Singer and William Harris Gongloff; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Edith was a graduate of Conemaugh High School. She was employed as a LPN at various health care facilities. Edith was a member of Conemaugh Valley Grace Brethren Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed singing, baking, and cooking and will be remembered for her fantastic lasagna. Edith especially loved family gatherings.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Conemaugh Valley Grace Brethren Church, with the Rev. Patrick Himes officiating. Private burial will be at Pike Cemetery. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh. Contributions may be directed her family in memory of Edith.
